Kalbarri to the Principality of Hutt River

After packing up and watching the pelican feeding across the road we continued our trip.

We stopped at most of the coastal ‘must sees’ along the way towards Port Gregory. The ocean view and amazing cliffs at some of the places were just beautiful.

Close to Port Gregory we noticed the Hutt Lagoon which is also called the Pink Lake. Looking at the picture below you can probably guess why. The bacteria in the lake give it a pink colour which is very pretty to see.

Port Gregory itself is a very small fishing town and we found a lovely place to have lunch near the beach. Whilst having lunch we saw two cars getting stuck trying to drive onto the beach. We tried to help out pushing and giving some advice but the cars were just not powerful enough. Those darn tourists..lol! We have a recovery set in our car and just as Sander was about to offer to pull them out a local fisherman came and did that for us.
It was entertaining for us to watch during our lunch break, that’s for sure!

From Port Gregory we decided to go to the Principality of Hutt River to meet Prince Leonard and camp at his royal property.

Our GPS knew a short cut and before we knew it we were in the middle of nowhere. Eventually we ended up on some local farm. Luckily the farmer was very kind and directed us to the right direction. Nevertheless we had to drive a massive detour until we finally got to our destination.
Fortunately we were just in time to book ourselves into the campsite before the office closed.
