Day 47 Litchfield NP to Darwin

This morning we woke up to discover heaps of mosquitoes on the outside of our fly screen! What a relief they couldn't get into our car while we slept!

Just after Sander finished his shower a massive snake (we think it was a python) was making its way into the toilet block. Luckily we both already had a shower and visited the toilet earlier... imagine sitting on the toilet or standing under the shower and this large fellow would make its way into your cubicle!!! Whaaa!!!

We visited Wangi Falls one more time and discovered a little fresh water crocodile near the boardwalk
(see 5th picture below).
That certainly was enough of Australian wildlife for one morning!

Via a dirt road we drove out of Litchfield NP. We came past Berry Springs but these were still closed for swimming and there wasn't much to see so we didn't stay long and drove on to Darwin.

It was weird being in the city again once of a sudden. We stopped at Palmerston shopping mall to get some lunch. Then in Darwin we walked around the city center for a bit. After all those weeks it was nice to see the ocean again. It made us realize we are now on the other side of Australia.

As campsites were all pretty far out of the city we decided to book a motel room through the tourist information center which turned out to be very disappointing once we got there.

Nevertheless we enjoyed watching television and on top of that we didn't have to worry about mozzies or the heat that night, which was nice for a change!

    1. Yeah, just a freshie indeed. We've not seen his big relative yet. We decided to skip Kakadu (for now) as almost everything is still closed (end of wet season) and we are now going towards Cairns. Nice to hear from you!
