We dreaded the long drive we had ahead of us today. From the campsite it was 375 km on the Tablelands Highway (again a 'one lane road'). The first couple of kilometers the landscape looked pretty interesting but it wasn't long until it turned into a dry, flat savannah landscape. There was absolutely nothing to see or do along the way. We entertained ourselfs by playing Yahtzee.
We had lunch at one of the two rest areas along the way and were happy when we finally arrived at the Barkly Homestead Roadhouse. It was rather busy with motor bikers. Soon we found out about this biker event in Alice Springs coming up, attracting more than 6000 bikers from all over Australia!
(Note; their club slogan is 'Grow old disgracefully'! Whahaha!)
And indeed we saw heaps more on the road from here on.
After driving another 120 km we found a rest area next to the Barkly Highway and decided to stay here for the night.
