This morning we drove to Cape Le Grand National Park once
again. We figured out that if we would arrive early enough we might be lucky to
find a camp spot in the Park today. At the entrance station we were told there
was one spot for a small campervan that came available at Lucky Bay.
Indeed we were lucky to find a free spot at the camping
area. After paying the fees with the ranger we settled in. It wasn’t long until
the wind became very strong and sand blew everywhere. We couldn’t even sit
outside anymore.
We decided to go for a walk along the beach. Lucky Bay is
considered the ‘whitest’ beach of Australia. And indeed on a cloudy day like
today the sand was just too bright to look at. Even the kangaroos can’t seem to
get enough of this amazing beach and visit it regularly.
The wind picked up even more and when we walked back to the
campsite we noticed other campers were packing up which meant we managed to
find a more sheltered spot. The ranger at first didn’t agree with us moving
there as it was a large spot designated for caravans but in the end he allowed
us to stay.
Even with the more sheltered spot, the wind was just too
much to bear. We therefore decided to watch a DVD in the car that evening.
