It was still grey and slightly windy when we got up this
morning so we decided to move on.
We drove to French Peak first where we walked
up the steep, bald rock to a massive cave. From there it was just a short climb
up to the top. The view was nice but I guess on a sunny day it would have been
more spectacular.
We decided to have a look at the other camp site in the Park
and upon arrival we contemplated on staying here for another night as they had
two more spots available. But we felt like moving on.
From here we drove 22 km on the beach, a shortcut, back to
Esperance.
Before we would leave the coast behind us we wanted to do the famous
Great Ocean Drive, so that’s what we did that afternoon. We drove from one
beautiful beach to the next and at some point the sun came out.
After lunch we
had a swim in Blue Haven where the water was crystal clear and dead calm
because of the sheltered position it’s in. Just amazing and we felt so happy
that at least we got to enjoy the beautiful ocean and beaches at its best if
only for a couple of hours.
The loop drive brought us back to Esperance where we bought
some bread before driving north to find a campsite for the night.
We ended up at Salmon Gums Caravan Park. It’s a community
park and the caretaker on site kept it very neat and tidy. Very much
appreciated!
