Yesterday we considered staying another day/night at Shelley
Beach but when we woke up this morning it was cold and windy so we decided to
move on.
After packing up we drove up to the lookout and had a
beautiful view over Shelley Beach and surroundings. On days with less wind it
happens to be a popular para-gliding spot.
From our camp spot we had seen the Albany wind farm in the
distance so when we drove past it today Sander wanted to see it from up close.
Next up was Torndirrup National Park. We had really wanted
to see ‘The Gap’ but unfortunately the road was closed as they are upgrading
the facilities. So instead we visited all the ‘other’ highlights of the Park.
We did some nice walks and enjoyed the various lookouts. For lunch we decided
to stop at Goode Beach.
In the afternoon we drove to Albany. It’s a rather big
country town and we strolled around for a bit, visiting some shops here and
there. There were a few nice historic buildings in town and also the view over
their natural harbour was pretty.
There were lots of campsites to choose from in
Albany and we ended up at Happy Days Caravan Park. Although it was rather
packed we got a nice spot next to the river. We spent the evening in the small
but nice camp kitchen. There was a wood fire oven which was very welcome as it was cold today.
